Hurricane Florence – Message 6 – 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 14

As Hurricane Florence makes landfall and moves across the North Carolina coast, The Port of Virginia remains vigilant, taking steps to ensure the resumption of safe and efficient terminal operations.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Southeastern Virginia, including the port. Rain and tropical storm force winds are possible for the remainder of today – Friday, September 14 – with gradually improving conditions tonight, and into tomorrow, September 15.

Per the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) – Fifth District Hampton Roads, the main shipping channel remains closed at the Virginia Capes. Vessels may only enter/exit the port based on exemptions granted exclusively by the USCG.

· The main channel will reopen for commercial vessel traffic, without restriction, at 0600 hours on Saturday, September 15

In the interest of safety, customer service and cargo accessibility, The Port of Virginia announces the following:

· Friday, September 14

o TRUCK GATES CLOSED at NIT, PMT, NNMT, VIG and the PPCY

o TRUCK GATES OPEN at Richmond Marine Terminal and the Virginia Inland Port (posted hours)

o Port administrative offices, including the World Trade Center – CLOSED

· Saturday, September 15

o TRUCK GATES OPEN – WEEKDAY HOURS – NO RESERVATIONS REQUIRED

§ VIG – 0200 hours open – 1700 hours portal closure

§ NIT – 0500 hours open – 1700 hours portal closure

§ PMT – 0600 hours open – 1700 hours last inbound unit

§ PPCY – 0500 hours open – 1730 hours last units in/out

§ PCY – 0500 hours open – 1730 hours closure

§ RSA – 0500 hours open – 1730 hours closure

§ NNMT – CLOSED (WWL and CrossGlobe resume ops.)

§ RMT – CLOSED

§ VIP – CLOSED

§ CARGO DIVISIONS (OOG / high and wide) – CLOSED at all terminals

Sunday, September 16

o TRUCK GATES OPEN – RESERVATIONS REQUIRED (** note below)

§ VIG – 0700 hours open – 1100 hours portal closure

§ NIT – 0700 hours open – 1100 hours portal closure

§ PMT – 0700 hours open – 1100 hours last inbound unit

§ PPCY – 0700 hours open – 1130 hours last units in/out

§ PCY – 0700 hours open – 1130 hours closure

§ RSA – 0700 hours open – 1130 hours closure

§ NNMT – CLOSED (WWL and CrossGlobe resume ops.)

§ RMT CLOSED

§ VIP – CLOSED

§ CARGO DIVISIONS (OOG / high and wide) – CLOSED at all terminals

· Monday, September 17

o Posted hours at all terminals and offices – all locations – BUSINESS AS USUAL

§ TRS reservations required, as per the standard operating plan
